Special Event: Ippudo’s Plant-Based Ramen Comes to Our Cafeteria!

At the Fuji Oil Hannan Business Office cafeteria, a special event featuring Ippudo’s plant-based ramen took place! The Plant Shiro-Maru was served on April 16, 2024, followed by the Plant Aka-Maru on June 25, 2024. This special event was made possible through the generous support of CHIKARANOMOTO HOLDINGS Co., Ltd.

I tried both the Shiro-Maru and Aka-Maru, and they were both delicious and highly satisfying!

It was truly a luxurious experience to have this in our cafeteria...

Looking around during lunchtime, it was very impressive to see the majority of people savoring the plant-based ramen.

Survey on the Plant Shiro-Maru!

We conducted a survey with 156 employees who tried the Plant Shiro-Maru. The most notable feedback was “The soup was delicious!

“The soup was so good that I finished it all.”

When asked about the flavor, whether it was rich or light, the majority voted for “light,” which might have been the key to its high evaluation.

“I’ve never been a big fan of the strong smell of pork bone broth, but this is a menu item that anyone can enjoy.”

We also received such responses as...

“It was satisfying yet easy to digest, and I didn’t feel sleepy during the afternoon break. It was very good.”

Project Behind-the-Scenes

We spoke with a member of the General Affairs Department, who worked tirelessly to make this grand project a reality.

Both days were a huge success, weren’t it?

The first event featuring the Plant Shiro-Maru was especially popular. During lunchtime, there was such a long queue that 210 servings were sold out within 40 minutes!

For the second event with the Plant Aka-Maru, we took all precautions based on feedback from those who missed out last time. With a total of 389 servings in one day, it means about half of the users had the ramen.

What inspired this project?

We have been exploring ways to enhance employee engagement by offering cafeteria opportunities to enjoy products that our company is involved in.

When we reached out to CHIKARANOMOTO HOLDINGS Co., Ltd. for their cooperation, they kindly agreed.

We aimed to introduce the first event in April to allow new employees to experience it.

Was it challenging to recreate the restaurant's taste in the cafeteria?

It was indeed challenging!

To serve the ramen as close to the restaurant's taste as possible, we had a representative from Ippudo come to our cafeteria and give detailed lessons. Particularly, the plant-based noodles, which do not use eggs, required careful attention to cooking time, and we went through numerous trials.

We paid special attention to every detail, including lifting the noodles and adding toppings after the soup, to match the restaurant's finishing touches.

We are extremely grateful to CHIKARANOMOTO HOLDINGS Co., Ltd. and the cafeteria operation staff for their tremendous support from preparation to serving.
