Veg-An's Challenge: Bringing Vegan Japanese Home Cooking to Singapore

Veg-An is a cloud kitchen concept based in Singapore, offering vegan Japanese home cooking in the form of a Bento (takeaway boxed meals).
It is operated by a Singaporean, who is a big fan of Japan and the ASEAN Regional Director of the Kagoshima Prefectural Government, and his Japanese wife.
They use the MIRA-Dashi™ C400 and C100 in their dishes. In addition to their bento menu, they have recently expanded into developing retail products.
MIRA-Dashi™ and New Endeavours
Veg-An has primarily focused on the sales of their homemade bento meals, but the discovery of the MIRA-Dashi™ C400 and C100, had inspired them to embark on a new challenge, to develop retail products.
They currently offer new vegan products such as the Banno Tsuyu, multi-purpose Japanese broth, and the Maguro tuna sashimi in broth.
The multi-purpose Banno Tsuyu broth enhances the appetite with its rich umami flavour and fragrant aroma.
It can be used for noodle dishes such as Udon, Soba and Somen, side dishes like Hiyayakko tofu, Agedashi tofu, spinach marinade, etc., stews, soups, and many other types of dishes.
The vegan maguro sashimi is a delicacy made using plant based konjac sashimi slices, marinated in a special sauce rich in umami flavours of the MIRA-Dashi™ C400 and selected Japanese soy sauce from Kagoshima.

After adopting the vegan lifestyle, the owners of Veg-An knew they had to give up on bonito flakes, but after trying the MIRA-Dashi™ C400, they were totally impressed by its resemblance to real bonito.
As a “dashi” soup base, the MIRA-Dashi™ is highly versatile and easy to use.
It allowed Veg-An to develop a variety of menu items, including somen noodle broth, udon soup, and even Oden, a popular Japanese hot pot stew.
“Thanks to MIRA-Dashi™ C400, we were able to recreate dishes that couldn't be replicated with just kombu dashi kelp broth! It was a mind-blowing moment!"
The bento meals, lovingly prepared by Veg-An, are exquisite, well-balanced, and flavourful, providing a high level of satisfaction that makes one forget the meal is entirely plant-based.
